Twitter Marketing

Despite the naysayers, there is tremendous value in using Twitter.

For businesses, Twitter marketing is a chance to connect with prospects and current customers in a unique way – and in a way that these important audiences are used to communicating.

Whether you use Twitter for business or not, there are some basic Twitter tips that can make your social media presence more relevant and successful:

What Does Your Twitter Profile Look Like?

Your profile is your first key to legitimacy – Using your company logo, company colors, linking to your company site and just having a completed (and branded) Twitter profile can go a long way toward verifying your legitimacy.

Put a name to your Twitter face – Companies don’t Tweet, but people do. Your followers (who are also your customers and potential customers) deserve to know the name behind your Twitter marketing. It adds credibility and personality to your presence.

Make Twitter a true piece of your business – If you use Twitter for business, then make it feel like a part of your businesses. Link to your Twitter business account from logical pages on your corporate website (news page, contact page, etc.).

Humans Tweet, so be human– I cringe when I see corporate Twitter accounts with nothing but news releases, re-tweets and links to company web pages. Humans engage in conversations, and this carried over to Twitter, as well. Come to Twitter with a sense of humor, or at the very least, understanding the “social” part of social media. Your experience (and that of your followers) will be better for it.

Iron Man 2 Twitter Account

I think we’re past the conversation where we talk about Twitter “possibly” being good for business. There are enough examples of large and small companies with a Twitter business account making a huge impact to make that conversation a waste of time.

The real conversation should be about your business – and Twitter for businesses in general. Will you use Twitter marketing to enhance your business presence, your customer service and your brand?  My Twitter tips above are just the start to a positive Twitter presence.

Amp up your Marketing with Twitter!

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Twitter is a great way to increase and reach your target market and it is right at your fingertips making it more accessible than other means of old school marketing.

According to Compete.com, Twitter has over 23.5 million users. What other social network marketing tool would be able to directly reach these many people instantly without spending billions of dollars? It would be impossible. Twitter adds this type of marketing depth that no other avenue is able to produce. You are able to receive feedback, interact with customers, and attract new ones all at once. There is nothing currently available providing instant results via one avenue as Twitter. It is remarkable and when utilized correctly to the maximum effectiveness, you may achieve your highest marketing goals that otherwise are unreachable.

Twitter is Growing

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Still don’t know what Twitter is?  You have come to the right place.  Twitter could well be one of the most use-friendly social networking tools around.

With this mini-blogging utility, you can keep thousands of followers up-to-date with your every thought. For example, if you’re keeping up with someone who lives in Hawaii, you can get the opportunity to see what they’re doing when they snap a photo using their cell phone and then upload it to their Twitter page.  By “following” a user on Twitter, you can keep tabs on what they’re doing as they update their profile with messages, links, and media.

It is quite amazing how fast the Twitter phenomenon has grown.  With its ease of use and dissemination (you can even update your Twitter profile through your cellphone), it has become an indelible part of the “Information Superhighway.”

There are many tools that people can access online to use and support Twitter. You might want to pick the applications that have the greatest appeal for your personality.

For me, one of these would be the TweetDeck.

TweetDeck is an Adobe AIR desktop Twitter application, and is currently being used by thousands of people around the world.  One of the features of TweetDeck is that you can be notified via popup the moment you receive a reply from a friend.  There are many other features, but suffice it to say, this application is great for helping you stay organized and will enhance your Twittering experience.

A Handful of Twitter Applications

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

TweetDeck

TweetDeck is a wonderful application that you can download to your computer to use with your Twitter account.  You can do everything the same as if you were using Twitter.com, plus a whole lot more.  For instance, you can shorten urls right there in the application.  Also, you can make simple searches using any keywords and get recent and real time results. You can use the TwitCloud to find out the hottest topic at the moment.  The list more or less continues in that general direction.  Simply speaking, it is a very user-friendly program!

Tweetizen

Tweetizen.com is a very cool website with easy-to-understand features. It is designed to keep you current on the latest breaking news and the various groups that you might want to join or create. There are many nice  filtering mechanisms integrated in Tweetizen. You can also embed certain groups or favorite topics right onto your website.

StockTwits

StockTwits is another great website if you’re interested in keeping up to date with others who are talking about stocks. It is an open and community-based. You can listen to other traders and investors or join the conversation with your own opinions. When you’re Twittering and want it to appear to the StockTwits community, just add dollar signs ($$) in your Tweet.

Twellow

Twellow is a combination of the two words Twitter and Yellow. It allows you to search for other Twitter users by category or keyword to find out where they are located online. Seems like a simple enough idea. There are times when you may want to find others with your similar interest and don’t know where to go to do that.

Tweetie

Tweetie is an iPhone application that you download and works very similar to the Tweetdeck. There isn’t much more to explain about this if you have already read above about the Tweetdeck.
